Teacher Education Program

Teachers are the cornerstone of quality education. Sterlite EdIndia Foundation’s Teacher Education Program strengthens India’s professional development of teachers through the capacity-building of pre-service and in-service teachers.

The program works closely with State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) and the District Institute of Education and Training (DIETs) to ensure that every teacher entering the classroom is confident, reflective, and future-ready.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that every child in India learns from a well-prepared, compassionate, and competent teacher.

Data Analytics Support
Program

The Indian education system is one of the largest recipients of data inputs related to various academic and administrative aspects of education. With the advent of digitisation, the Department of Education has initiated efforts to collect data and record the same.

However, efforts to initiate data analysis have remained nascent. With the advancement in data analytics and technology, administrators can make well-informed academic and administrative decisions.

Given the wealth of data and its potential use, Sterlite EdIndia Foundation has been working with state governments to support them in making informed decisions.

Why Teacher Education Matters

Teacher leading a classroom of students

India's education system faces a crucial challenge: while millions of teaching posts remain vacant, only 16.3% of aspirants clear the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). The real solution lies in strengthening teacher education institutions (TEIs), nurturing the next generation of educators with strong pedagogical understanding, digital literacy, and leadership skills.

Sterlite EdIndia Foundation bridges this gap through a comprehensive program that combines digital learning, practical exposure, and reflective practices, ensuring that teaching becomes an aspirational profession once again.

Transforming Teacher Education Landscape

Our Approach

We believe that effective teacher preparation requires intervention across all stages of a teacher's professional journey:

Pre-service | Induction | In-service

Our approach integrates technology, experiential learning, mentorship, and research, focusing on both teacher and institutional development.

We work with:

  • Pre-Service Teachers to be in alignment with National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST)
  • SCERTs and DIETs for state level capacity building
  • B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. colleges to enhance curriculum implementation
  • Key Resource Persons (KRPs) and administrators to enable informed, data-driven decisions

Together, these efforts create classrooms that are inclusive, engaging, and grounded in real world learning.
